1. The Goal: Safety & Comfort

The primary purpose of the free class is not to make you a black belt in one day, but to show you that Gracie Barra Agoura is a safe, professional environment.

 Assessment: The instructor evaluates your movement and fitness level to ensure you are placed in the right program (GB1).

 Culture Check: You get to see the “Red Shield” culture in action—respect, hygiene, and teamwork.

2. The Format (Private or Semi-Private)

You will likely be in a small group or one-on-one with an instructor before joining the main class.

 Warm-up: Basic calisthenics (jumping jacks, squats).

 Movements: Learning to “shrimp” (move your hips) and “breakfall” (fall safely).

 Technique: You will learn one self-defense technique (e.g., escaping a headlock) and one ground technique (e.g., passing the guard) in a controlled setting.

3. No Sparring Policy

To prevent injury and anxiety, you will not spar (fight) in your free intro class. You will drill cooperatively. This is a major selling point for professionals who cannot afford to go to work injured.
